Job Overview
Motivated mid-level Water Resources Engineer with 4–10 years of experience to join a premier engineering group in Virginia Beach. In this role, you will perform complex hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, drainage design, and stormwater management for state and local transportation projects. You will work within a collaborative, multi-discipline office, interpreting and executing assignments with limited supervision while serving as a technical mentor to junior staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Design: Develop drainage and stormwater management designs using current software in accordance with client specifications.
- Hydraulic Modeling: Conduct watershed studies and perform hydrologic/hydraulic analysis using methodologies like TR-55, TR20, and the Rational Method.
- Project Support: Assist in the preparation of contract documents, including scopes, fees, plans, reports, and cost estimates.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with contractors, government agencies, and multi-disciplinary teams across various locations.
- Leadership: Act as a mentor to less experienced engineers and assist in construction-phase service requests.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (Water Resources emphasis) from an ABET-accredited program.
- Experience: 4–10 years of professional experience in Water Resources engineering.
- Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) in Virginia, or the ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of hire.
- Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Microstation OpenRoads Designer, HEC-RAS, PCSWMM, HY-8, or HydroCAD.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of Virginia stormwater regulations and Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) design.
